Fun with friends at Disneyland

Spent the day playing with the camera again at Disneyland. Had a lot of fun with my hubby and friend Jill. I tried a few things such as adjusting my ISO for dark areas and played with my aperture settings. Here are some of the pictures I took. Comments and Suggestions welcome.

Yes I love to try to get reflections!!! It's just too much fun!!!
My attempt at getting sun rays....Not the best...
Had to get the water drops. My camera was playing games with me on this. My hubby could get the pic but not me... but in the end I won!!!
Just fun.... Christmas on Main Street
Goofy was trying to figure out what we were taking pics of.

Some fun shots at the game

In my typical ADD fashion I can focus on the game only for so long before I start chatting with people, teaching kids about photography (what I have learned), and well just taking random Just 4 Fun pics. So here you go!
Fall leaves in fence... just 4 fun!
Believe it or not this gal doesn't like her picture taken....
 Yet she is very photogenic.
 The great thinker!!!
This kiddo was asking great photography questions and taking pictures of me taking pictures of him. Love this pic!
 Random leaves....

Action packed game

Early morning games are never easy. Early on Saturday to boot... This morning we did the run to Carl's Jr because my son determined that in order to have a decent breakfast we needed sausage and bacon to both we are out... Then I needed to jump start my morning with a run to Starbucks for a Peppermint Mocha in which I was neither greeted when I walked in nor was I given the red sprinkles on the top which just makes the Peppermint Mocha magical. :) So off to the game we go arriving in my typically early fashion we enjoy conversation in the car while we wait for someone from our team to arrive.

Game on!!!
Sliding in home....and the look on his face just says OUCH!!!!
 Clearly safe....
I love the dust coming off the catchers glove!!!
You say JUMP.... and we say make way sliding in.....
Lost in a cloud of dust in 3.....
 2.....
 1..... and POOF he's gone

We ended up with a tied game. Sad sorta I thought we played to break the tie. Apparently that is a Spring ball Little League rule???

Children's books and art work

Funny how things get refreshed in your mind. Years ago I wrote a children's book and illustrated it. Several years have past, feedback given on the one I completed and never published. Suddenly after running my book through PDF I have the creative juices flowing again... Now which one to pick up as I have a few started ones. One about a doggy named Oreo or one about a student attending a virtual school. Heck I guess if the creativity is there I should try to finish both.

Honestly the amount of folks who write children's books in my opinion outweighs the possibility of my books ever being published. (Therefore I don't try...sad I know) I guess though that what truly matters is that I enjoy writing them and illustrating them. Even if it is for my own personal enjoyment and that of the select few I share them with.

Reflection fun

Some of the fun that we had in Washington DC was the wonderful black walls and water fountains. With these in mind we had a lot of fun with reflections in the walls and water. Below are some of the fun pics we took.

This could have only been cooler if my son had gotten their faces in the wall.

Can you find the pic that this matches from my camera. Photo taken by son1

Some fall colors reflecting in the pool.

My personal fav from son1. Only would have been better had the trees directly reflecting into the water been as colorful as the ones off to the far right

Son1 changed angles and got more wall less water... still a neat shot imo

I was taking a picture of the Heart Icon left by someone at the wall. Photo by son1

Love the laser etched walls Photo by me

Fun with their reflections (yep this is the matching picture from son1's camera...he thinks he's slick holding his cam at the end of his hand and taking pics of me taking pics of him...)

Could have been more color in the water but I like it anyways Photo by me

hubby1 and son1 reading a note that made me cry from a gal who just found her dad's name on the wall. He died when she was 3 and she never met him. photo by me

Washington DC pics and fun

Had such an exciting week last week. Flew to Herndon, VA and was able to take my guys with me! :) They had never been to the east coast and I had only briefly got the "quick and dirty" tour of the National Mall at night 4 years ago. We were able to see quite a bit in my opinion and then they were able to see some sights while I was in training. Below are some of my favorite pics from the trip.

Must see:
Arlington Cemetery:  Tomb of the Unknown (changing of the guards every hour)
Arlington Cemetery: Arlington House
Arlington Cemetery: over all
Air and Space Museum in Herndon, VA
Air and Space Smithsonian
National Mall: Lincoln, Washington Monument, World War II (for fun pics with Washington Monument), Korean War, Vietnam Wall
Old Town Alexandria, VA: Lee-Fendall House (tours on the hour)
